Physical Therapy for Pelvic Pain

According to the American Physical Therapy Association, pelvic pain affects up to 20% of the U.S. population and can happen in both women and men, but is more common in women. Pelvic pain can be caused by various factors, including pelvis disorders, pinched nerves, urinary tract infections (UTIs), sexually transmitted diseases (STDs), or certain landmark events in a woman’s life, such as menstruation, pregnancy, or childbirth. Common pelvic pain symptoms include immobility, inability to sit for long periods, pain during sex, constipation, rectal bleeding, or diastasis recti.
