Women’s health physical therapy addresses the variety of health conditions and diagnoses that specifically affect women throughout the many phases of their lives, including first menstruation and menopause to pregnancy and postpartum. At Bull Dawg, we provide one-on-one care and individualized treatment plans for women of all ages based on their current life stage, needs, goals, and challenges.

Our physical therapists are specialized in physical therapy services unique to women’s health issues such as pregnancy-related low back pain, pelvic pain, urinary incontinence, and cancer rehabilitation. Below are some of the women’s health services we offer:

    Pre- and Postnatal Physical Therapy

    Manual physical therapy can help to reduce pain and minimize the discomfort that comes with pregnancy including low back pain, neck pain, incontinence, abdominal weakness, and diastasis recti.

    Pelvic Floor Dysfunction and Pelvic Pain

    Your pelvic floor goes through many changes during pregnancy and delivery. Pelvic floor dysfunction can lead to a variety of conditions, including pelvic pain, incontinence, sexual pain, and infection. Physical therapy can treat pelvic pain through neuromuscular re-education, joint and soft tissue mobilizations, massage, and therapeutic exercises.

    Pre- or Post-Surgical Treatment

    Pilates in Women’s Health

    In addition to manual therapy and neuromuscular re-education, your physical therapist may use pilates-based exercises to address your symptoms and areas of concern. Common conditions that can benefit from pilates-based rehabilitation include pregnancy and postpartum low back pain, diastasis recti, and abdominal and pelvic floor weakness. Pilates-based rehabilitation can be an appropriate treatment option with or without prior Pilates experience.
